Ability to develop and implement a classroom management plan to ensure equitable and effective student access to available technology resources.
In order to ensure all students were able to access the technology resources needed for this assignment, I reserved one of our school's computer labs with enough computer systems and internet access ports for all students. Students were assigned seats in order to give them the best learning environment based on prior factors such as interpersonal issues and students who are easily distracted by outside stimuli. This served as part the class management plan along with our technology resources policies.
For computer rules and technology safety policies, I was able to draw on our school system's Acceptable Use and Internet Safety (AUIS) Policy which all students must agree to at the start of the school year. In order to use the school's computer lab, all students must be in good standing and have a signed AUIS Policy document on file. The link for this school policy is https://www.madison.k12.al.us/departments/it/Shared%20Documents/Policies/aup.htm
Before going to the computer lab, I was able to review the AUIS Policy and our Student Code of Conduct with the class. I also went over our classroom/school-wide behavioral policy that includes the four "be's" (Be On Time, Be Prepared, Be Responsible, Be Respectful). Students understood that their ability to use the technology was a privilege, not a right and as such could be taken away as a result of violating any of the policies or procedures reviewed.
